The Boston Red Sox have won 8 straight game, their longest winning streak since April 29-May 6, 2023, beating the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 on Friday night, as Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 2-4un walk-off homer.

Trailing 4-3, with 1 out, Roman Anthony pinch hit, earning a walk. They Rafaela blasted his 2nd career walk-off, over the Green Monster in left to give the Red Sox the win. It was Rafaela's 13th homer of the season. He finished the night 2-4 with 3 runs batted in.

Trevor Story was 2-3, playing in his 1000th career game. Since June 1st, in 36 games he's batting .312 with 9 doubles 8 home runs and 34 runs batted in.

Alex Bregman reinstated from the injured list, started at 3rd base and was 1-4 with a double.

Masataka Yoshida, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a double.

Hunter Dobbins, fresh off the injured list started for the Red Sox but lasted only 1.2 inning, leaving the game with right knee pain. He allowed 2 hits, a run, struck out 2 and walked 1.

The Red Sox then had to turn the game over to the bullpen, using 6 relievers. Jorge Alcala allowed 3 runs on 3 hits. The rest of the relief corps, Brennan Bernardino, Greg Weissert, Justin Wilson, Jordan Hicks and Chris Murphy combined to hold the Rays scoreless allowing just 3 hits in 6.1 innings, striking out 6 and walking 2. Chris Murphy picked up the win and is now 2-0.
