Red Sox Secure 10-3 Victory Against Tigers In Dramatic Game

Benches emptied as Framber Valdez hit Trevor Story after allowing back-to-back home runs in the 4th inning, as the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 10-3 on Tuesday night, May 5th,

Valdez had just allowed homers to Willson Contreras (his 8th) and Wilyer Abreu (his 5th) before drilling Story in the back. After players had returned to their benches and bullpen, Valdez was ejected.

The Red Sox hit 3 home runs int he game. In addition to the homers from Contreras and Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela hit a 3-run homer in the 1st inning. Rafaela ended the night 3-5, driving in 4 runs.

Jovani Moran started the game for Boston and pitched 1.0 inning, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. He struck out the side but walked 2 and allowed a home run. Brayan Bello ptiched the 2nd through 8th innings, allowing 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 7 and walked 1, improving his record to 2-4. Alec Gamboa made his major league debut, pitching the 9th inning, striking out 2.

The Red Sox are 15-21 and Detroit is 18-19. The 2 teams will play the final game of the 3-game series at Thursday afternoon with the pregame at 5:40 and 1st pitch at 6:40 p.m.
