Trojans Down Eagles 68-50 [PHOTOS]
The MDI Trojans remained perfect on the season, defeating the Ellsworth Eagles 68-50 on Thursday, January 5th in Bar Harbor, using a 2nd Quarter run where they outscored Ellsworth 19-2 to pick up their 7th victory of the season.
MDI led 18-12 in the 1st Quarter. Russell Kropff scored 8 points, including a 3-pointer. Gus Reeves and Riley Swanson drained 3-pointers and Drew Rich and Devin Parlatore scored 2 points each for the Trojans. For Ellsworth Zach Harris and Bryce Harmon each had 5 points including a 3-pointer, and Jared Hamilton had 2 points for Ellsworth.
In the 2nd Quarter, MDI outscored Ellsworth 19-2 to take a 37-14 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Riley Swanson had 11 points including 3 3-pointers, and Gus Reeves, Graham Good, Colby Lee and Devin Parlatore each had 2 points for the Trojans. Zach Harris scored Ellsworth's lone points.
In the 3rd Quarter, MDI outscored Ellsworth 18-17 to take a 55-31 lead. For MDI Swanson had 2 more 3-pointers, Andrew Phelps had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Graham Good had 4 points, Derek Collin had 2 points and Drew Rich was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Ellsworth Zach Harris and Bryce Harmon had 5 points each, with a 3-pointer, Dylan Harmon had 5 points and Jared Hamilton had 2 points for the Eagles.
In the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth chipped away at the lead, but were never able to get within 14 points. Troy Folmer had 6 points with 2 3-pointers, Bryce Harmon had 6 points including a 3-pointer, Zach Harris had 4 points and Jared Hamilton had a 3-pointer. For MDI Graham Good had 6 points, Riley Swanson, Mac Shea and Russell Kropff had 2 points and Aaron Snurkowski was 1-2 from the free throw line for the Trojans.
MDI was led by Riley Swanson with a game high 22 points while Graham Good had 12 points and Russell Kropff had 10 points. MDI had 9 3-pointers and were 15-18 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth was led by Zach Harris and Bryce Harmon, each of whom had 16 points. Jared Hamilton had 7 points. The Eagles had 8 3-pointers and were 6-6 from the free throw line.
MDI is now 7-0 on the season and will play against John Bapst on Saturday, January 7th at 7 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
Ellsworth is now 5-4 on the season and are off until Saturday, January 14th when they will play host to Houlton at 3:30 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio.
