MDI Girls Beat MCI In Prelim 50-32 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team punched their ticket to the Cross Insurance Center, beating the MCI Huskies 50-32 on Tuesday, February 14th in a Class B Girl's Prelim Game played at Bernard Parady Gymnasium.

MDI led 12-11 at the end of the 1st Quarter, taking the lead with just seconds left in the Quarter. Alexis Clarito had a 3-pointer, Julia Watras was 3-4 from the free throw line and Abbe Miller, Maddy Good and Emma Watras had 2 points for the Trojans. For MCI, Christa Carr had 4 points, Ciera Hamlin had a 3-pointer, Dee Urena and Paige Lord had 2 points for the Huskies.

MDI's defense clamped down in the 2nd Quarter, as MCI only scored 5 points. Sydnesy Morton had 2 points, scoring with 4 minutes gone in the Quarter and then Sara Linkletter went 3-3 from the free throw line with just seconds left for the Huskies. For MDI Abbe Miller and Maddy Candage had 4 points each and Julia Watras and Maddy Good had 2 points each for the Trojans. MDI led at the half 24-16.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI extended their lead, leading 41-25. Abbe Miller had 5 points with a 3-pointer, while Julia Watras, Maddy Good and Maddy Candage each had 4 points. For MCI Sydney Morton had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Ciera Hamlin was 4-4 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter Maya Watras had 6 points for MDI, Maddy Candage had 2 points and Julia Watras had 1 point for MDI. For MCI Sydney Morton had a 3-pointer, April McAlpine had 2 points and Sara Linkletter was 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Abbe Miller who had a game high 11 points while Maddy Candage and Julia Watras had 10 points each. MDI was 4-8 from the free throw line.

MCI was led by Sydney Morton with 10 points while Ciera Hamlin had 7 points. MCI was 9-15 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 12-7 and will play Houlton the number 1 seed in the Tourney at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday, February 18th at 4:30 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA and WDEA Internet Radio and on our free downloadable APP.

MCI finishes their season at 11-8.
