MDI Boys Basketball Triumphs Over Ellsworth In Bar Harbor

For the 1st time since the pandemic, the MDI Boy's Basketball Team beat Ellsworth, winning 78-67 on Tuesday night, January 13th in Bar Harbor.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 16-14 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter led by Colby Eaton with 7 points. The Eagles led 34-26 at the Half, as Dylan Stoll went to the bench with 3 fouls with 5:18 left in the 1st Half. Eaton had 8 points to lead Ellsworth in the 2nd Quarter.

The 3rd Quarter the Trojans flipped the switch, outscoring Ellsworth 27-13 to turn a 8 point deficit into a 6 point lead. James Witham had 16 points in the 3rd Quarter, including a 3-pointer and was 7-7 from the free throw line. Through the 3rd Quarter the Trojans were 19-19 from the free throw line.

Int the 4th Quarter Kenneth Stillwell had 9 points for MDI with a 3-pointer and Witham had 12 more points. For Ellsworth Dawson Curtis had 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

MDI was led by James Witham who finished with 41 points including 2 3-pointers and was 15-16 from the free throw line. Kenneth Stilwell had 14 points with a 3-pointer and Preston Tripp had 9 points with a 3-pointer. The Trojans were 24-26 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Colby Eaton with 21 points and 2 3-pointers. Dawson Curtis had 16 points with a pair of 3's. Jackson Barry had 143 points. Evan Haskell had a 3-pointer. The Eagles were 8-15 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth is 9-3 and will host Presque Isle on Saturday, January 17th at 1:30. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 1:10 p.m.
