MDI Baseball Falls to John Bapst Friday 8-1
The MDI Baseball Team fell to the John Bapst Crusaders 8-1, Friday afternoon, May 24th in a game played on the turf at Husson University in Bangor.
MDI actually led 1-0 at the end of the 4th inning, but John Bapst erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th and tacked on 2 more in the bottom of the 6th
MDI managed only 3 hits off of Alec Gagnon, who went the distance for the win for the Crusaders. He struck out 3 and walked 3.
MDI's lone hits came off the bats of Kyle Nicholson, Jack DaCorte and Sam Mitchell, all singles.
Quentin Pileggi threw 5 innings for MDI allowing 6 runs on 8 hits. He struck out 2 and walked 2. Sam Mitchell threw the 6th inning, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 1.
Garrett Krilin was 3-3 from the plate for the Crusaders. Ben Spear, Ethan Newcomb and Sam Harman each had 2 hits. Gagnon and Spencer Dieuveuil each had a single for John Bapst.
MDI is 8-7 and in 5th place in the Class B North Heal Point Standings They close out the regular season on Senior Recognition Day at home on Wednesday, May 29th at home, at 4:30 against the Ellsworth Eagles.
