MDI High School Dean of Students Ian Braun may very well be contemplating what he's gotten himself into, when he agreed to a request by Kate Meyer and the Island Pathways Students.

The Island Pathways students at Mount Desert Island High School have been studying hunger and famine and, as their final project, have organized a fundraiser for the Hancock County Food Drive.

Using the Design Thinking method, the students redesigned the traditional food drive and came up with an idea that they thought would get the student body, and community excited about raising money for a great cause. They are raising money by "selling" one foot of duct tape for $1.00  ($1.00 will provide four meals for Hancock County families in need).  They are going to use the amount of duck tape "sold" to tape Mr. Braun to a wall in our cafeteria next Friday, March 31st at 10:55 AM. Ian will be suspended off the ground, provided enough tape is "sold"

In the first day, $105 feet of duct tape was sold, providing the equivalent of 460 meals! If you want to contribute to this cause, and who wouldn't want to see Mr. Braun suspended, stuck to the wall, you can drop off your money to Mrs. Meyer or to the office at MDI High School. I'm told that there will be many different colors of duct tape used in the effort! Don't worry, if you can't make it to the cafeteria on Friday March 31st, we'll have pictures here on the website!
