A celebration of Tammy Dow's life will be held 4 pp.m. Thursday, February 3rd, at MDI High School, 1081 Eagle Lake Road, Bar Harbor following all CDC guidelines (masks will be required to be worn)

Tammy A. Dow, 59 unexpectedly died on January 28th, 2022, in an automobile accident.

She was born March 20, 1962, in Lewiston the daughter of O’Neil A. and Irene N. (Lachance) Levasseur. Tammy graduated from Lewiston High School, following graduation she attended Husson College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education. She was a member of Delta Sigma Delta. While there she met the love of her life, Bunky Dow, a partner and soulmate for over 40 years.

Together they bought their first home in Ellsworth and started their family. They were thrilled to welcome their son, Jonathan and daughter, Chelsea. They then moved to Trenton and started the process of building a life around their children.

Tammy started at the Jackson Laboratory and dedicated 28 years helping employees maneuver the Benefits Program, then moved to MDI Hospital where she has been working for 6 years.

Tammy loved to spend time with her family and cherished her children and grandchildren. She was so happy traveling, camping, and going on adventures with Bunky. She loved following the High School sports teams when her children participated. She was looking forward to early retirement and more time with her beautiful grandchildren.

Tammy found joy working with the public and helping people in need. She was one of the first faces you would see at sporting events.

Tammy is survived by her beloved husband Bunky, her daughter Chelsea McCurdy and husband Matthew, grandchildren Grayson and Mia, her siblings Cindy Thurston and husband Dylan Anderson of Bar Harbor and children Bradley, Morgan and Sophia; a brother Marc Lavasseur of Florida and children Kyle, Abbie and Emily; mother in law, Dorothy Dow of Tremont and many cousins. She was predeceased by her son Jonathan and her parents.

A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held 4 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Mt. Desert Island High School, 1081 Eagle Lake Rd, Bar Harbor following all CDC guidelines.
