Western Maine schools left little doubt who the top teams in the state are for classes A, B, and D football as they took all three gold balls on championship Saturday.Oak Hill won back-to-back class D state titles with a convincing 41-21 win over previously unbeaten Maine Central Institute. Alex Mace put up 342 all purpose yards to lead the Raiders. MCI was hit with injuries as Jonathan Santiago, Eric Hathaway, and Alex Bertrand all missed significant portions of the game.

The Class A title was won by Thornton Academy who took out Windham 35-14. After trailing at halftime 14-7, the Trojans scored 28 unanswered second half points to claim their second gold ball in the last three years.

Marshwood claimed the final gold ball of the day winning the class B title 44-18 over Brunswick. For the Hawks it's the 17th state championship in school history. Quarterback Luc Blanchette rushed for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns to pace the Marshwood offense.
