
Old Town Wins District 3, World Series Spot
For the first time in the 14 years the Senior League World Series has been in Bangor, Old Town will be the host team after winning the District 3 Championship.Old Town scored 2 runs in the first inning and made them stand on their way to a 3-0 win over the Bronco-Hermon All-Stars at Mansfield Stadium.
Kaleb Gifford scored the only run needed in the first inning with two outs as a throwing error allowed him to come around from second base. Austin Sheehan followed that up with an rbi single as part of a two hit performance. Ryan Hoogterp capped the scoring with an rbi single in the bottom of the 5th inning.
Dana Ouellette got the win on the mound pitching 2-hit ball over 6.1 innings and striking out 5. Ethan Stoddard got the final two outs to close the game.
Old Town will get a bye in the Senior League World Series and play the winner on Italy and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Monday August 3 at 1pm.
