Recipe for Brandied Cranberries
It's 10 days to Thanksgiving, as Thanksgiving is celebrated on November 26th. Thanksgiving is all about family, sharing and is one of my favorite holidays! I thought I'd share a favorite recipe, or tradition, or helpful Thanksgiving hint every day until Thanksgiving.
The website delish.com recently posted about every State's favorite Thanksgiving side dish and claimed that Maine's was a "side salad"! I can't imagine having a "side salad" for Thanksgiving! Have a look at our 3rd generation recipe for brandied cranberries! I think if you try it you'll give up the side salad and replace it with this!
Brandied Cranberries
- Combine 1 pound of cranberries.. picked over, 2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup of water and cook till skins burst
- Then add 1/8 tsp. ground cloves, 1/2 tsp. ground allspice, 1/2 tsp. ground ginger, 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Cook for 5 minutes then add 1/2 cup of brandy and 3 tablespoons of port wine
Fantastic with pork, chicken, turkey, fish and also with cottage cheese and believe it or not vanilla ice-cream.
Enjoy!
