Porcello Hits and Pitches Red Sox Back to 1st Place
The Boston Red Sox are again in sole possession of 1st place thanks to Rick Porcello who hit and pitched the Red Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Washington Nationals in the 1st game of the 3 game series on Monday July 2nd.
Porcello came to bat in the top of the 2nd with the bases loaded and cleared the bases with a double, scoring 3 runs. He pitched 6.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 5 and walked 2 and improved his record to 10-3.
