Pets Of The Week Lita & Viggy Have Formed An Unbreakable Bond

Most weeks, the SPCA of Hancock County features hard-to-adopt or overlooked animals as our pet of the week, but this time, we want to tell the special story of a dog and a cat that aren’t quite ready for adoption yet.

Lita is a 1-year-old DSH Oreo cat with a black diamond on her nose and the biggest pupils you ever saw, poor thing.

Viggy, short for Vigaro, is a gray Malkie and the older of the pair at 6-years-old - not old at all for a dog the size of a cat.

Both came from the same home and were surrendered with many tears, and as it turned out, they had come in the nick of time. Lita had lost her kittens to pyometra, which has been treated by getting her spayed and keeping her on antibiotics. Viggy himself needed some dental work done to make his life more enjoyable.

On her bad days, Lita didn’t even want to wake up and eat, but if she caught sight of her pal, Viggy, she would perk up and dance around him and try a few nibbles for his sake. For his part, Viggy has been a vocal supporter and plucky companion for his kitty-cat. While they seem fine with other cats, dogs, and humans, they have formed an unbreakable bond that spans across species.

When they do become available for adoption, after both have fully recovered, they will need to be adopted together. We can’t split this family apart.

The SPCA of Hancock County is a no-kill facility, and currently has many cats and dogs available for adoption. It’s located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton. Donations are always accepted. They will take your returnable bottles as a donation, so please drop them off!
