Penobscot Narrows Bridge Reopened to Traffic

10:20 am - The Maine Department of Transportation has reopened the bridge to traffic. The ice that they were concerned fell off the bridge cables. The bridge was closed for a total of 40 minutes

The Maine Department of Transportation has closed the Penobscot Narrows Bridge connecting Prospect to Bucksport because of falling ice on Monday morning, February 10th.

As the sun warms the ice that has formed on the bridge, there is a danger of that ice sliding off in sheets and falling onto the bridge deck.

There is a detour in place on Route 15 in Bucksport. We will update this once the bridge has been reopened, but one can expect the bridge to remain closed through early afternoon on Monday, the 10th.
