
Bucksport Bay Business Coalition to Host Bucksport 250th Freedom Festival July 18
With the Town of Bucksport making the decision that they would no longer staff or organize the Bucksport Bay Festival, a group, the Bucksport Bay Business Coalition stepped up and will be hosting Bucksport's 250th Freedom Festival this Saturday, July 18th.
Here's the schedule of events.
- 5 a.m.- Sunrise Paddle and Red White and Blue Breakfast at the Alamoosook Lakeside Inn, Orland
- 8 a.m. - Bucksport 5K Family Fun Run and Dog Walk to benefit Bucksport Shed 2 Shelter. It will begin a the Town Pool at the corner of Bridge Street and Broadway in Bucksport.
- 10 a.m. - Firecracker Pageant - 55 Main Street. Registration is closed. There are 4 categories "Little Miss Firecracker" for children 1 day to 5 years old; "Junior Miss Firecracker" for children 6 t o 9; "Miss Firecracker" for children 11 to 17 and "Firecracker Classic" for those 18 and up. Spectators are welcome.
- 11 a.m. - Patriotic March. This will begin at the Veteran's Memorial and will be led by members of the Bucksport American Legion. The march will proceed along the Waterfront Walkway to the Gazebo near the Town docks.
- 12 noon to 7 p.m. - Food and craft vendors on the waterfront .
- 12:30 p.m. - Pie eating contest at the Town Dock by the Gazebo. There is a $5.00 entry free with a $50.00 cash prize. There will be 2 categories. Check-in the day of the event at 12:15. To preregister please email teri@bucksportbaycoalition.com
- 2 p.m. - 7 p..m. - Live music featuring All Access and Ida Black a the Gazebo along the waterfront.
