The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a blizzard warning for Downeast Maine including the cities of Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Eastport, Machias and Cherryfield from 7 a.m. Monday February 23 to Tuesday morning February 24.

We can expect total snow accumulation of 7 to 12 inches with winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour Monday afternoon and evening.

The worst conditions, with the strongest winds and heaviest snowfall rates of around an inch per hour will occur on Monday afternoon and evening.

Travel conditions during this time are expected to be extremely dangerous, as there will be near-whiteout conditions.
