ESPN is reporting that Boston Red Sox designated hitter, David "Big Papi" Ortiz has re-signed with the Boston Red Sox. Ortiz was under contract for the 2014 season, which begins on Monday March 31st, but he had been unhappy that his contract wasn't extended after his banner 2013 season.

The agreement, which should officially be announced Monday or Tuesday, calls for a one-year, $16 million contract extension with vesting option years in 2016 and 2017. The $16 million contract is an increase of $1 million dollars over the 2013 contract.
