Over 100 MDIRS Students Visit College of the Atlantic and “The Road Line” Thursday
Thursday, August 31st was a beautiful day for a field trip and over 100 students from MDI's schools went to the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor
Thanks to Natalia Pajor-Meddaugh, the Grade 4 Teacher at the Tremont School who sent along the following account and photos!
Third and Fourth graders from Tremont Consolidated School enjoyed walking the completed portion of Andy Goldsworthy’s environmental art installation at College of the Atlantic, on a beautiful and breezy day.
Tremont Consolidated School students joined peers from all of the other MDIRSS schools.
Goldsworthy is a world renowned sculptor and environmental artist who is currently completing a permanent installation of granite stones that fit together in a winding line from the sea to the curb on Route 3, at the entrance of COA.
Students were able to see the work in progress, view the granite slabs and machinery, and meet Andy Goldsworthy. Many kids were able to ask the artist questions.
Some collaborative projects are being planned between MDI High School and Secondary MDI schools in response to the “Road Line” visit.
We are thrilled that both Darron Collins, COA president, and Andy Goldsworthy welcomed over 100 MDIRS students.
A special shout to Chandra Raymond, Art Teacher at Tremont, who planned and executed this opportunity for the students!
