There will be Memorial Day observances in Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor, Monday, Memorial Day, May 30th.

Southwest Harbor

The American Legion and Auxiliary, Eugene M. Norwood Post 69 in Southwest Harbor will be hosting a Memorial Day parade on Monday starting at 9 a.m. at the junction of Main Street and Seal Cove Road, ending with a ceremony on the Southwest Harbor Village Green.

The Memorial Day ceremony with guest speakers and active members of the U.S. Coast Guard will feature music from the MDI High School Pep Band as well as students from the Pemetic and Tremont Bands (Tremitic) who will be performing in the parade to honor U.S. military personnel who gave  the ultimate sacrifice.

Bar Harbor

A Memorial Day Remembrance Service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 30th at the Village Green at the War Memorial.

There will be laying of wreaths. Representative Lynne Williams will be the featured speaker. Rob Benson from the Bar Harbor Congregational Church will give the invocation. Brian Booher will perform the national anthem and taps. Jai Higgins from the Bar Harbor Fire Department will also recite an original poem.
