The Acadia Chamber of Commerce released the following statement regarding the Memorial Day observances in Southwest Harbor on Monday, May 25th.

Due to the forecasted heavy rain expected on Monday, May 24th, we have made the difficult decision to transition our Memorial Day Parade to an indoor ceremony.

While we are disappointed we will not be able to march together through our community this year, our mission remains the same - to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will now be held indoors at the Pemetic Elementary School gym beginning at 9:00 a.m., followed by coffee and donuts at the Common Good Soup Kitchen right next door. We invite everyone to join us as we come together in remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.

Thank you for your understanding, continued support, and dedication to honoring our nation’s heroes.

Revised Memorial Day Schedule

  • 8:30 - 9 a.m. - Ceremony setup at Pemetic School Gym in Southwest Harbor
  • 9 a.m - Student Bands play
  • 9:30 a.m. - American Legion Memorial Service
  • 10 a.m.- Coffee and Donuts at Common Good Soup Kitchen (next to the Post Office and Pemetic School)
