MDI Girls Softball Beats Ellsworth 6-5 in 8 Innings

The MDI Girl's Softball team defeated Ellsworth 6-5 in 8 innings to improve to 4-2 on the season, while Ellsworth fell to 3-2 with the loss.

Haley Littlefield pitched 4.1 innings for MDI allowing 7 hits and striking out 2 while giving up 1 walk. Hannah Shaw picked up the win in relief, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing 1 hit, striking out 7 and walking 2. Mariah Brown pitched a complete game for Ellsworth, allowing 12 hits, striking out 6 and walking 3.

Hannah Shaw had a double, triple and home run for MDI. Her home run in the 5th inning was a 3 run home run, and tied the score at 5. Molly Carroll had two doubles for MDI.

MDI scored the winning run in the top of the 8th inning. Anna Busker hit a double, and advanced to third on Haley Littlefield's sacrifice bunt. Shelby O'Neil then hit a hard smash to second, that the second baseman dropped, and on the play Busker scored.

MDI next plays on Thursday when they will host Hermon. Ellsworth hosts Old Town next on Thursday.
