MDI Girls Soccer Revenge Tour Continues Nip Ellsworth 1-0 in Class B North Semifinals [PHOTOS]
In a game that neither side deserved to lose, the #10 seeded MDI Trojans upset the #3 Ellsworth Eagles on Saturday morning, 1-0 at Del Luce Stadium.
The lone goal came on a corner kick by Lelia Weir that deflected off the Ellsworth goalkeeper with 17:32 left in the 1st Half.
In the 1st Half, Ellsworth outshot MDI 6-4 with MDI having 3 corners to Ellsworth's 2 corners.
In the 2nd Half, Ellsworth put the pressure on MDI's defense and goalkeeper Sabine Costello-Sanders, outshooting the Trojans 9-2. The corners were tied 3-3.
MDI, who upset the #7 seed Belfast 3-0 and the #2 seed Old Town, 1-0, will look to continue the revenge tour, when they play the #1 seeded Hermon Hawks at Hampden Academy on November 3rd at 4 p.m. We are trying to get permission to broadcast the game on WDEA AM 1370
MDI is now 7-10-0. Ellsworth ends their season at 13-4-0.
