The MDI Trojans Football team traveled to Madison to play the Madison Bulldogs  and came up a bit short, losing to Madison 26-13 on homecoming night for the Bulldogs.

MDI received the ball first, and then fumbled the ball on the first play from the line of scrimmage, and Madison took over on their own 47 yard line with 11:48 left in the 1st Quarter.  MDI's defense came up with an interception by Chris Farnsworth and they took over on their own 13 yard line with 7:49 left in the 1st Quarter.

The Trojans weren't able to move the ball far, as they ended up turning the ball over on downs to Madison, and the Bulldogs took over on the MDI 43 yard line. MDI's defense again was up to the challenge, as they stopped Madison on 4th down, and took over on their own 14 yard line with 11:03 left in the 1st Half.

The MDI offense was forced to punt, and Madison received the ball on their own 45 yard line with 8:39 in the 1st half. Madison would score on a 8 play, 55 yard drive, as Cody Soucier ran in from 2 yards out with 2:41 left in the half. The extra point kick was no good as it bounced off the left upright, and the score was Madison 6 MDI 0.

MDI took the kick off return back to the 42 yard line, with 2:35 left, but the offense was forced to punt and Madison took over on their 17 yard line with 56.9 seconds left in the half. Madison would go 83 yards, culminating with a 25 yard pass from Chase Malloy to Soucier as time expired. The 2 point conversion was no good, and at the end of the 1st half, Madison led MDI 12-0.

Madison had 186 yards on offense in the first half, including 68 passing yards as Malloy was 5-8 with a touchdown and interception. MDI had 50 yards on the ground.

Madison received the ball to start the 3rd Quarter getting the ball on their own 39 yard line. 5:21 later, Nick Morales rumbled in from 2 yards out, and when the 2 point conversion was good, Madison was up 20-0 with 6:35 left in the 3rd Quarter.

MDI returned the kickoff to the 43 yard line, and were able to score with 4:08 left in the 3rd as Sandy Henggeler went in from 1 yard out, the drive taking 2:22. Billy Laverdiere kicked the extra point and the score was Madison 20-MDI 7.

Madison took over at their own 25 with 4:01 left in the 3rd Quarter, and MDI forced a punt, and took over at their own 38 yard line with 2:01 left in the 3rd Quarter. Andrew Phelps, starting at quarterback in place of the injured Colby Candage threw an interception, and Madison took over on their own 19 yard line with 11:23 left in the game.

Soucier scored his 3rd touchdown of the game, running in from 9 yards out with 7:15 left to play., The 2 point attempt was no good and Madison led 26-7.

MDI took over on their own 41 yard line with 7:10 left in the game, and Andrew Phelps threw his first varsity touchdown pass, a 5 yard completion to Isaiah Keene with 3:48 remaining in the game, and when the 2 point conversion failed, Madison led 26-13, which ended up being the final score.

MDI falls to 2-3 on the season, and will play at Waterville on Saturday October 11th at 1 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA.  Madison improves to 2-3 and will play at Camden Hills on Friday October 10 at 7 PM.
