MDI Regional School and AOS 91 Superintendent Mike Zboray sent out the following communication to the MDI Community announcing that due to Hancock County "improving" from High to Moderate levels of community transmission for COVID, that masks will be optional for everyone attending graduation at MDI High School on Sunday, June 5th.

Further, masks will no longer be mandatory and that families can determine whether children should wear masks when they return to school on Monday, June 6th.

Here's the letter

Dear MDIRSS Community

I would like to start by thanking our community's families, students, and staff for their understanding of the need to reintroduce masking while Hancock County was identified as red by the CDC. As of Friday morning, Hancock County has returned to yellow.  With that designation, all MDIRSS schools will return to optional masking on Monday, June 6th, and remain in place for the rest of the school year.

Masking for MDI High School graduation will also be optional.

I am grateful for your understanding as we managed the recent surge and appreciate your support and the promise of end-of-year celebrations throughout our district.
Be well,

Mike Zboray, Superintendent of Schools MDIRSS/AOS#91
