Local libraries are much more than just a place to check out a book. Here's what's happening at the Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Ellsworth Public Libraries and the Jesup Memorial Libraries September 2nd - 7th.

Monday, September 2nd
The Library is closed for Labor Day!

Wednesday September 4th
10 AM - Toddler Story Time - Join Children's Library staff in songs, simple sign language, and interactive short stories. Stories, songs and simple crafts for toddlers to preschoolers with Miss Susan, Children’s Librarian. Special guests include Danielle Simpson and Moro Avakian. (Designed ages 3-5 but all welcome.)

Thursday September 5th
1:30 - 2:30 Apple Tech Help - Free assistance for Apple Laptops and devices. Pre-registration is required. Call to make an appointment for a half hour session. (207) 244-7065.

Friday September 6th
10-11 AM - Baby Story Time - Susan Michalski and Amanda Crafts welcome babies with songs, rhymes, and short stories. Baby Storytime is designed especially for babies under two years, but we are family friendly and we welcome siblings. For more information, call the Library at 244-7065

Saturday September 7th
9:30-12:30 General Tech Help - Get help with basic computer tasks such as setting up an email account, transferring photos, completing online forms, attaching photos to emails, scanning documents, creating and using documents in Word, Excel, Access, Google Drive, etc. Laptop users are encouraged to bring their own computer. Hardware and maintenance issues relating to private computers are beyond the scope of this assistance. Registration recommended for a one-on-one half hour session, or drop in with the chance that you may have to wait until our volunteer is available.

Tuesday September 3rd
10:30 - 11:30 -Story Time and Crafts - Join Miss Keli for stories, songs, and crafts! Recommended for kids ages 4-5 and their caregivers
2-3PM - Tuesday Readers - “The Tuesday Readers” is a book discussion group at Ellsworth Public Library meeting the first Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m.
The book selection of the month will be discussed. Coffee, tea, and refreshments served. Meet in the Riverview Room.
The author will NOT be present

Wednesday September 4th
Noon - 1PM The Joy$ of Thrift - Join others who are looking for ways to save money, stretch the budget and share frugal ideas. Please feel free to bring your lunch. Coffee and tea will be provided. Meeting is the first Wednesday of each month.
6:30-7:30 PM - PJ Story Time - Join Miss Cheryl for bedtime stories and wear your pajamas! Kids of all ages are welcome with their caregivers.

Thursday September 5th
10:30-11:30 - Story Time and Crafts - Join Miss Keli for stories, songs, and crafts! Recommended for kids ages 2-3 and their caregivers.
6-7PM - Book A Month Club - The Ellsworth Public Library Book-a-Month Club will meet on the first Thursday of the month. This month join for an informal discussion of "The Immortalists" by Chloe Benjamin. Coffee and tea provided. Meet in the Riverview room. The author will NOT be present
6-7PM - Ellsworth Chess Club - The Ellsworth Chess Club, hosted by Dick Powell, meets weekly on Thursdays at 6:00pm at the Ellsworth Public Library. Visitors and new people are welcome.
6:30PM -Maine St Andrews Pipes and Drums concert that was scheduled for August has been rescheduled. It will be on the library's front lawn

Friday September 6th
2-3:30 - The Reading Pros Book Club - The Reading Pros Book Club is for 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders who love to read great books and talk about them! The group meets on the first Friday of the month to discuss the book of the month, play games, and eat fun snacks. Books can be picked up at the Ellsworth Public Library.

Saturday September 7th
9-9:45 - Baby Story and Play Time - Join Miss Cheryl for a story and sing some favorite songs followed by informal playtime. A great opportunity for parents to connect and the kids to play! Recommended for children 3 and under and their caregivers.
10-12 Noon - Knitting Group - Come work on your project and socialize with the group on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Fiber arts of all types and levels are welcome! Join the group in the Knitting Nook (3rd floor). Knitters, spinners, and crocheters of all levels are welcome!

10-11 Infant Story Time - Bring your little ones to the Children’s Room every week for stories, finger plays, songs & more! Ages infant to 2 years and their caregivers.

Thursday September 5
6-8PM Get Your Knit On! - Knitters meet every Thursday 6-8 p.m. to knit, share/trade yarns, talk knitting (and everything else), and have fun! Join in!

Saturday September 7
9 -10 AM - Write On! Writers’ Group - Writers group for all levels and genres. Come prepared to read your work and critique the work of your fellow writers.
