Three people were arrested during a drug bust in Hancock County.

Three People Arrested in Hancock County Drug Bust

Two of the three suspects are currently facing drug charges in connection with this case.

  • John Crawford, 60, of Hancock, is charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in cocaine base and fentanyl.
  • Jonathan Sprague, 29, of Milbridge, is charged with unlawful possession of Scheduled drugs and violation of conditions of release.
  • Matthew Crabtree, 33, of Ellsworth, is charged with violation of conditions of release.

All three were taken to the Hancock County Jail.

Maine Drug Bust Included the Search of a Hancock County Business

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency executed a search warrant at 221 Franklin Road in Hancock on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, following a month-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity.

Seven people were at the property when drug agents arrived, but the property owner, John Crawford, was not among them.

The extensive search included a single-family home, multiple camper trailers, and an on-site business, Hancock Cycle.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Seizes More Thank $30K in Illegal Drugs

When the search had been completed, officials had seized a variety of drugs and firearms, including:

  • Over 235 grams of cocaine base (crack)
  • 79 grams of fentanyl
  • 12 grams of methamphetamine
  • 5 grams of cocaine HCL
  • Four firearms.

The estimated street value of the drugs is over $30,000.

Sprague and Crabtree were arrested during the search and an arrest warrant was issued for the property owner.

John Crawford was arrested at his home on the evening of June 5, 2026, by Hancock County Sheriff's Deputies.

More arrests are expected in this case.
