The Ellsworth Eagles beat the MDI Trojans 5-1 on Tuesday, June 2nd in Ellsworth in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The game was close until the bottom of the 5th inning when Ellsworth scored 3 runs to take a 5-1 lead.

Dawson Curtis picked up the win for the Eagles. The senior went 6.0 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run, striking out 8 and walking 2. Jackson Barry, a senior, closed out the game pitching the 7th inning and striking out 2.

Spencer Grierson took the loss for MDI. The senior went 5.0 innings allowing 8 hits and 5 runs, 4 of which ere earned. He struck out 7 and walked 2. Brycen Chipman pitched the 6th inning, allowing a hit.

Colin Sullivan homered for MDI, accounting for their lone run. Preston Tripp and Tysen Mace each singled.

For Ellsworth, senior Caleb Jordan went 3-3, driving in a run. Dawson Curtis was 1-2 with a pair of runs batted in. Jackson Barry was 1-2 with a run batted in. Porter Merrill was 2-3 with a double. Evan Haskell and Brayden Pooler each singled.

Ellsworth had 6 stolen bases with Curtis swiping 3 bases, and Pooler, Haskell and Barry each stealing a base.

Ellsworth finishes the regular season with a 15-1 record and will finish 1st in the Class B North Heal Point Standings.

MDI finishes the regular season with a 11-5 record and will finish either 3rd (most likely) or 4th in the Class B North Heal Point Standings.

Both teams will be in the playoffs.
