Graves Named New Managing Editor of The Islander

The Ellsworth American announced on Thursday, August 24th that Liz Graves has been named Managing Editor of the Mount Desert Islander, replacing Earl Brechlin who is leaving after 16 years at the helm of the paper to become the Communications Director for the Friends of Acadia.

Graves has been at The Islander since 2013. She has covered sports, maritime topics as well as the Bar Harbor beat including government and police. She has helped manager the paper's website and facebook account.

Graves has won Maine and New England Press Association awards for reporting on business, science and technology and sports as well as for feature writing.

Married to Art Gowie, they live in Bar Harbor
