Ellsworth Musicians Shine at State Jazz Festival

Congratulation to the Ellsworth High School Musicians who had such a great showing at the State Jazz Festival on March 15th at Lake Region High School.

According to Jamie Calandro the Ellsworth High School Music Director all 4 of the groups came away with at least a bronze, with 2 of the combos scoring a silver and the top combo just 1 point shy of gold.

Additionally Ellsworth received 4 of the 10 state Outstanding Musicianship Awards. Cady Gleason was awarded 2, one for her work in Combo and one for the Big Band. Felix Markosian and Finley Harmon also received Outstanding Musicianship Awards.

Harper Turner received the Dale Huff Memorial Scholarship Award. This is given to the top overall musician in the State (1 for Combo and 1 for Big Band) and exemplifies elite musicianship at the highest level, along with commitment to furthering the excellence of the overall jazz program. This award was created in memory of Maine Music Educator, Dale F. Huff for his contributions to the Maine music education community and his tireless efforts to promote K-12 music and performing arts programs.
