Ellsworth Softball Beats MDI 1-0 in Pitcher’s Duel [PHOTOS]

The Ellsworth Softball Team beat MDI 1-0 in Bar Harbor on Monday, May 11th in a pitcher's duel that saw Cam Clough and Ella Watson combine to strike out 21 batters.

Clough picked up the win for the Eagles, allowing just 3 hits. She struck out 11 and didn't walk a batter.

Watson was the tough-luck losing pitcher, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run, while walking 3 and striking out 10.

Ellsworth's lone run came in the top of the 3rd inning. With1 out Greenlea Harmon walked, and was sacrificed to 2nd base by Kaylee Bagley. MDI attempted to throw Harmon out at 3rd, and the throw went past the 3rd basemen, allowing Harmon to score the lone run of the game.

Cam Clough and Jenna Moon had singles for the Eagles.

Ella Watson had a double for MDI and  Alahna Terry and Grace Hodgdon singled for the Trojans.

MDI is now 3-4. They will host Old Town on Wednesday May 20th at 4:30 p.m.

Ellsworth is 4-1. They will host Washington Academy on Tuesday, May 12th at 4:30 p.m.
