Ellsworth Mother Charged When Child Left Alone in Cold Car
An Ellsworth woman faces several charges after police discovered her 1-year-old child alone in a cold vehicle on Thursday.
Ashley Bragg, 32, of Ellsworth, faces charges of assault, endangering the welfare of a child and domestic violence reckless conduct.
Police discovered the child after a relative called 911 at about 11:20 a.m. with a report of a missing child. The child was found inside the parents’ car in a child seat at the residence on Surry Road.
It was unclear how long the child had been missing.
Bragg arrived on the scene shortly after the child's discovery, according to a news release from the Ellsworth Police Department.
The child was evaluated on the scene and treated at a local hospital for hypothermia and frostbite, police said.
The Department of Health and Human Services is investigating.
