Ellsworth Girls Beat Old Town 53-48 in Battle of Unbeatens [STATS]

In a battle of unbeatens, the Ellsworth Eagles Girls Basketball Team beat Old Town 53-48 at Mackenzie Gymnasium in Old Town on Wednesday, January 3rd.

The 2 teams know each other's style and the game totally lived up to expectations.

Old Town went on a 6-0 run to start the game, but Ellsworth outscored them 20-9 the rest of the Quarter to take a 20-15 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

Old Town outscored Ellsworth 11-7 in the 2nd Quarter to cut Ellsworth's lead to 1 point, 27-26.

In the 3rd Quarter Old Town outscored Ellsworth 16-9, scoring the final 6 points to take a 42-36 lead.

But in the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth outscored Old Town, going 7-10 from the free throw line for the win.

Ellsworth was led by Grace Jaffray with 28 points, despite going scoreless in the 2nd Quarter. Addison Atherton had 9 points. Jaffray had 2 3-pointers, with Atherton and Elizabeth Boles sinking one each. The Eagles were 11-17 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Saige Evans who was closely guarded all night, with weak-side help coming everytime she got the ball. The majority of Evans' points were in the paint off of rebounds. Alexis Degrasse had 13 points. Taylor Loring drained 3 3-pointers and Makayla Emerson had Old Town's other 3-pointer. The Coyotes were 4-11 from the free throw line.
