Connolly Early started on the mound for Boston and managed to go only 4.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run, striking out 5 and walking 2. Zach Kelly took the loss (0-1) being tagged with 2 run on 2 hits and walking 1, before he retired the final 2 outs in the 5th inning.

Tyler Samaniego, Greg Weissert and Jovani Moran combined to hold St. Louis to jus 1 hit in the final 3 innings, striking out a combined 4 batters and walking 3.

Wilyer Abreu had 2 of Boston's 5 hits. Ceddanne Rafaela had a double. Masataka Yoshida and Marcello Mayer each ha a single.

Trevor Story scored 1 of Boston's runs with a steal of home in the 4th inning.
