The Ellsworth Boy's Baseball team picked up a huge Heal Point win this afternoon, May 27th, upsetting Bucksport in Bucksport, by the score of 5-2!

Ellsworth started the scoring in the top half of the 1st inning, sending 9 batters to the plate. Steven Mahon walked to start the game,and advanced to 2nd base on a single by Conor Maguire. Mahon scored on a couple of passed balls by the Bucksport catcher, and Maguire was on 3rd base. Brandon Braley stroked a double scoring Maguire. Sid St. Peter popped out to the 3rd baseman for the 1st out, and then Nick Bagley doubled, scoring Braley, putting Ellsworth up 3-0. Mitchell Domagala grounded out to 3rd, which let Bagley go to 3rd base. Bagley then scored when Hunter Cote singled. Cote went to 3rd base on Cooper Henderson's single, but the Eagle runners were stranded when Aaron Malone flew out to right. At the end of the top of the 1st inning, Ellsworth was up 4-0.

Bucksport scored in the bottom of the 1st inning, as Jack Cyr hit a 3-1 homer off Conor Maguire. At the end of the 1st inning Ellsworth led 4-1.

Bucksport scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. With 2 out, Josh Gray reached base on an error by the Ellsworth 2nd baseman. Gray stole 2nd base, and scored on a single by Jack Cyr, his second hit, and second RBI of the night. At the end of 3 innings Ellsworth led 4-2.

Ellsworth would score the final run of the game in the top of the 4th inning. Mahon reached base on a 3rd strike that got by the Bucksport catcher. Conor Maguire singled, advancing Mahon to 2nd, and then Brandon Braley hit his 2nd double of the night, scoring Mahon. It was Braley's 2nd RBI of the game.

Ellsworth's pitcher Conor Maguire only allowed 3 singles the rest of the game, as Ellsworth prevailed 5-2.

For the game, Maguire pitched a complete game for the victory, allowing 2 runs, 1 of which was earned. He allowed 5 hits, struck out 4 and walked 2.

Bucksport used 3 pitchers, with Asher Bowden picking up the loss. Combined, Bucksport allowed 9 hits, 5 runs, 4 of which were earned. The Bucksport pitchers struck out 8 and walked 1.

With the victory, Ellsworth improves to 5-8 on the season. Ellsworth has 3 games remaining in the regular season; Thursday May 29 at Hermon at 4:30, home Saturday, May 31st at 12 Noon against Foxcroft Academy and then home on Tuesday, June 3rd against MDI at 4:30 PM.

Bucksport is now 11-2 on the season. The Golden Bucks have 3 games left in the season; Friday May 30th at Dexter at 4:30 PM, Monday, June 2nd at home against GSA at 4:30 and then at Sumner Wednesday, June 4th at 4:30.
