The District 1 Champions, the Ellsworth 9-10 Softball Team staved off elimination in the State Championship Tournament in Waterboro on Sunday, defeating Glenburn 8-2 after losing 3-0 to Westbrook on Saturday in the heat.

On Saturday, Ellsworth lost 3-0 despite a strong pitching performance from Kaylee Bagley who struck out 8, walked 6 and allowed 3 hits. Ellsworth was 1-hit, that being a double by Elizabeth Boles.

Coming out of the loser's bracket on Sunday, Ellsworth beat the District 3 Champion, Glenburn, 8-2. Camryn Clough was in the circle for Ellsworth and had 12 strikeouts, while walking 6 and allowing 5 hits. Elizabeth Boles was 3-3 with a triple. Sydney Mason was 2-3 with a home run and Camryn Clough was 2-2 with a double.

Ellsworth's run in the tournament will continue on Monday, July 22nd, when they play Biddeford at 5:30 in the double elimination tournament.
