Community Closet 207 to Celebrate Grand Opening on Sunday
When the Community Closet announced in July 2023 that they would be closing it was a huge loss for the Ellsworth community, as it provided clothing, food, back to school supplies, household goods and more to the neediest of our friends and neighbors in Downeast Maine. But now, a new store has opened, Community Closet 207 and is celebrating their Grand Opening on Sunday, August 4th.
Located at 330 Water Street, in Ellsworth, Community Closet 207 will celebrate their Grand Opening from 11 to 4 on Sunday, August 3rd. There will be a ribbon-cutting with the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commers, children's games and activities to include a bounce house and an appearance by the Darling's Ice Cream Truck!
Community Closet 207 will be open 11 to 3 on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and then from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. They will open by appointment on Thursday. You can call 207-460-0219 to make an appointment for Thursdays.
Much like the original Community Closet, the new Community Closet 207 will be offering clothing for the entire family, shoes, bedding , toiletries, personal hygiene items, diapers, formula, kid's toys and light bulbs and towels as well as other items. All items will be available for free or at a low cost.
Executive Director Sarah Bowden said that "T wanted to create a boutique environment similar to the other shops on Main Street - where our neighbors can shop in an upscale, inviting space without judgement and with a smile and a hug when needed. Support comes in many forms and we are here to help."
There is the hope to expand the hours as the business grows.
Donations may be dropped off at Community Closet 207 during their business hours.
