The MDI Trojans Softball Team left Bar Harbor at 6:30 Friday morning, April 26th for the long bus ride to Caribou to take on the Caribou Vikings in a doubleheader. On a cold and windy afternoon, the Trojans defeated the Vikings in Game 1, shutting them out 7-0 for their 1st win of the season.

Lindsey McEachern threw a complete game, pitching 7 innings and scattering 5 hits. She only walked 1 and struck out 14!

Renee Stubbs, Alexis Parker, Taylor Devoe and Gabrielle Sutherland each singled for Caribou while Taylor LaBreck had a double.

Heather DeMerchant went the distance for Caribou taking the loss. She allowed 9 hits and 7 runs, 5 earned while striking out 5 and walking 8. She hit 3 batters (Lily Cook twice and Ruby Brown once)

Emily York was 3-4 for MDI with a double. Lindsey McEachern was 2-4. Zalie Garcia, Ruby Brown, Hannah Hanscom and Olivia Gray each had a single for the Trojans. McEachern had 2 stolen bases while Brown swiped one bag.

MDI is now 1-2 on the season while Caribou is 1-1. The 2 teams will play the 2nd game of the doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
