Sumner Memorial High School Announces Honor Parts
Principal Ty Thurlow has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2019 at Sumner Memorial High School. Commencement exercises will be held on Thursday, June 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Clint Ritchie Gymnasium at Sumner Memorial High School.
This year’s valedictorian with Summa Cum Laude distinction is Madeline Buswell, daughter of Ted and Mindy Buswell of Winter Harbor.
The salutatorian with Summa Cum Laude distinction is Tara Flubacher, daughter of Marcella Flubacher of Winter Harbor.
Buswell is a member of National Honor Society and was a National Merit Finalist. She has participated in soccer, indoor track, softball and the school math team. Madeline plans to attend Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey to study public policy.
Flubacher is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in volleyball, indoor and outdoor track. Tara plans to attend the University of Maine seeking a degree in Kinesiology & Physical Education.
The first honor essayist with Summa Cum Laude distinction is Lauren Nault, daughter of Denis-Marc & Peggy Nault of Sullivan.
Nault is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in soccer, cheerleading, softball, and the school math team. Lauren was the University of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award recipient. She plans to attend the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York pursuing a degree in biological sciences.
The second honor essayist with Summa Cum Laude distinction is Susan Johnson, daughter of Eric & Alison Johnson of Gouldsboro.
Johnson is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in Show Choir and has been an active member of the visual and performing arts program at Sumner Memorial High School. Susie will be attending Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana pursuing a degree in Biology.
