Fiona Farmer Wins Sumner Memorial High School’s Principal’s Award
Congratulations to Fiona Farmer who has won the 2026 Sumner Memorial High School's Principal's Award. The award was announced by Principal Amy Watson and is sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, and is given in recognition of a high school senior’s achievement and citizenship.
Fiona, from Sullivan is the daughter of Paul and Lindsay Farmer..
Principal Watson said
"Not only is she a top academic student, but she has also been actively involved in Sumner athletics, participating in girls’ soccer and basketball and serving as team captain of both teams this year. Fiona is a member of the National Honor Society and serves as the Sumner Chapter’s treasurer. She also holds the position of class secretary. She is a leader in both the school and the community. It is admirable that she has completed more than 100 hours of community service over her four years of high school. Fiona is very deserving of this Principal’s Award recognition."
Fiona, Amy Watson and other award winners and their principals will attend an Honors Luncheon at Jeff’s Catering on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of ten $1,000 scholarships in the names of former principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.
