Statement From Ellsworth PD Regarding Planned Protest on Friday June 5th
Ellsworth Police Chief Glenn Moshier has released the following statement regarding the planned protest in Ellsworth on Friday afternoon, June 5th.
The Ellsworth Police Department has received information from multiple sources regarding the potential for armed citizens coming to Ellsworth this afternoon to protect our downtown. I would like to reassure all of the business owners and citizens of Ellsworth that the Ellsworth Police Department is well prepared for any and all contingencies dealing with this afternoon’s planned protest
We are expecting a peaceful protest and will do everything we can to minimize the disruption created by the protest. Many of the rumors have been exaggerated or are simply not true. If you plan on coming to Ellsworth this afternoon to protest or as an anti-protest, please know that the Ellsworth Police Department intends to maintain law and order and we will do everything within our power to ensure the safety and security of all protesters while providing everyone with the opportunity to exercise their 1st amendment rights safely. We will not tolerate lawlessness and any violations of law will be dealt with swiftly and without hesitation.
It is critical that we all exercise patience, compassion and understanding during these challenging times and I ask all protesters to please be peaceful and respectful to the opinions of all people
