Sobriety Checkpoint Results in 1 Arrest August 24th-25th
The Ellsworth Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Department held sobriety checkpoints on Friday night, August 24th into the morning of Saturday, August 25th, using grants from the Department of Highway Safety to pay for these details.
The checkpoints were held from 10PM to 2AM, and the Departments had contact with 657 vehicles during that time. As a result, 1 male was arrested for Operating Under the Influence according to Captain Troy Bires.
Back on August 3-4th when the two Departments held a similar checkpoint, they had contact with 600 vehicles and there were no arrests.
