Smarter Than the Average Bear – Ellsworth Bear Saga Continues
Despite their best efforts on Wednesday, June 24, the Maine Warden Service, biologists and Ellsworth Police Department were unable to trap the young male bear that was in the tree in the area of the Shore Road and State Street.
The bear climbed down from the tree around 8:35 p.m and ate the donuts but didn't go into the trap.
According to Susan Tripp the Ellsworth Police were by early Thursday morning and the road is going to continue to be blocked off. Please avoid the area as the hope is that they can trap him and relocate him on Thursday.
Wardens didn't shoot a tranquilizer dart on Wednesday, as the bear was up too high and they believed he would hurt himself if he fell from the tree
