Red Sox Lose in Grand Fashion – Fall to Yankees 5-3
The Boston Red Sox were leading the New York Yankees Wednesday night, April 17th 3-1 after 6 innings. Things were looking up for Red Sox nation until Brett Gardner hit a grand slam giving the New York Yankees a 5-3 victory.
The Red Sox received a solid outing from their starter Nathan Eovaldi as he went 6 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits. He struck out 6 and walked 1.
The Red Sox offense was clicking. JD Martinez hit a solo homer in the 1st inning and Christian Vazquez hit a 2 run homer in the 2 inning.
But, Gardner's grand slam off of Ryan Brasier dropped Boston's record to 6-13. They are in last place in the AL East, 8.5 games behind Tampa Bay.
The Red Sox also received some more bad news as Dustiin Pedroia left thee game complaining of knee "soreness".
Boston is off on Thursday. They will start a 3 game series in Florida against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Eduardo Rodriguez will pitch for Boston, with the pregame starting at 6:10 and 1st pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
