The Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland A's 7-0 on Thursday, July 11th at Fenway Park as Tanner Houck pitched 6 innings of 2-hit baseball and the Red Sox homered 3 times.

Houck allowed just the 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 6 to improve to 8-6 on the season. He didn't allow a hit through the 1st 4.1 innings.

Chase Anderson picked up his 3rd save of the season, pitching the final 3.0 inning allowing just 2 hits and striking out 5.

Connor Wong, 2-3 hit his 8th homer, a solo shot in the 3rd inning.

Wilyer Abreau was 3-4, just a triple short of the cycle as he had a single, double and homer. He drove in 2 runs. The homer, his 8th of the season came in the 4th inning.

Masataka Yoshida, was 3-4 and drove in 4 runs. He hit a 2-run homer, his 4th of the season in the 6th inning. Yoshida is batting .346 going 18-52 with 3 doubles, 2 homers and 12 runs batted in, in his last 13 games dating back to June 24th.

David Hamilton had a double.

Boston is now 51-41 and a game ahead of the Kansas City Royals for the 3rd wild card spot. The Red Sox open a 3-game series with the Royals on Friday night with the pregame starting at 6:10 and first pitch at 7:10 on AM 1370 WDEA.
