Red Sox Beat A’s 12-9 [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland A's 12-9 on Tuesday night, July 9th. The win improved Boston to a season-high 10 games above .500. It marked the 1st time the Red Sox were at least 10 games over .500 since July 4th, 2022.
The win was Alex Cora's 490th win as the Red Sox manager, passing Bill Carrigan for sole possession of 4th most in club history. It was also his 900th game managed.
Brayan Bellow started for the Red Sox and picked up the win, and is 9-5 on the year. He set a career high with 11 strikeouts. He gave up 9 hits and 5 runs, walking 2.
Trey Wingenter made his 1st appearance as a Red Sox, pitching the 9th, allowing a 3-run homer run to Zack Gelof. He allowed 2 hits and struck out 1 and walked 1.
Wilyer Abreu was 1-3 with 4 runs batted in. He hit his 7th homer of the season, in the 2nd inning.
Dominic Smith was 1-4 with a solo home run in the 2nd inning. The homer was his 4th of the season, and went back-to-back with Abreu.
Rafael Devers, who bowed out of appearing in the All-Star game citing a sore shoulder was 2-4 with a double and 3 runs batted in.
Ceddanne Rafaela was 2-5 with a triple.
Masataka Yoshida was 2-3 with a double.
Every Red Sox starter had at least 1 hit in the game.
