Struggling Red Sox Fall to Rockies 9-8 in 12 Innings [VIDEO]
The Boston Red Sox dropped their 4th straight game since the All-Star break, losing to the Colorado Rockies 9-8 in 12 innings on Monday night.
The Red Sox, without Kenley Jansen, due to health issues, used 7 pitchers in the game. Tanner Houck started and gave up 4 runs in 6.0 innings, allowing 10 hits and striking out 2 and walking 3.
The beleaguered bullpen was forced to use Bailey Horn and Chase Anderson in the 12th inning.
At the plate Jarren Duran was 1-6 with a triple.
Jamie Westbrook playing 2nd base was 1-2 with a 3-run home run, his 2nd of the season, in the 5th inning.
Connor Wong, 1-6 hit a solo homer in the 8th inning to tie the game at 5-5. It was his 9th of the season.
Tyler O'Neill was 3-5 with a double. Romy Gonzalez was 2-4 with a double and Dominic Smith was 1-1 with a double.
The Red Sox used 20 of their 26 players in the game.
Boston and Colorado will play game 2 of the 3-game series on Tuesday night. The pregame starts at 7:40 on AM 1370 WDEA.
