Within  the past few weeks a video of two teen beating a dog that went viral on the internet has brought the spotlight again on the fact that these kinds of crimes against animals videoed for the internet happens regularly in the US with very little consequence to the perpetrator.

The two teen here in Maine were charged with animal cruelty which carries a fine of $500.00 and not that is excuses their behavior the BDN of Lewiston Auburn tells us the dog is fine. What this incident really seem to have brought into focus is a culture of videos being distributed with the purpose of showing animal being tortured. This is what has prompted two congressmen from Florida to draft the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act.

After reading the bill we shudder to think that these types of legislation is even necessary it want to make it a Federal Crime to: create or distribute a video showing a bird or animal being crush, burn, drown, suffocate or impale an animal and could come with a prison sentence of up to 7 years.

So what do you think of that?
