The rapidly plummeting temperatures this afternoon are creating the possibility of snow squalls and a flash freeze for late this afternoon into this evening according to the National Weather Service.

The squalls are expected to develop across the area between 4 and 8 p.m. with the possibility of 2 quick inches of snow.

The quick dip of temperatures will cause any standing water on roadways, and sidewalks to rapidly freeze, resulting in the potential for icy roads.

The combination of snow squalls and icy roads will result in the potential for hazardous driving conditions.
