Although there is no danger of Hurricane Erin making landfall for Maine, we are experiencing impacts especially along the Coast of Maine.

The National Weather Service has posted a High Surf Advisory for Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties from 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 21st until 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 23rd.

Waves are expected to build to 7 to 10 feet with a wave period of 13 to 17 seconds.

You should be especially mindful of rip currents if you are in the Ocean, which can quickly pull you away from your current location and make it difficult to return to shore.

If you are heading to Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park or other prime viewing points in Coastal Hancock and Coastal Washington Counties please be aware of any closures, and don't ignore them. If you are going on rocks, stay away from the edge, to avoid a wave splashing over the rocks and causing you to fall in the Ocean!
