8,000 Versant Power Customers Without Power at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday [UPDATE]
At 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 6th there were still 8,000 Versant Power customers without power because of the snow,rain and wind on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
After a peak of more than 27,000 outages at the height of this weekend's storm, more than 55% of impacted customers have been restored. The majority of remaining outages are located in Piscataquis and Penobscot counties, where there is more extensive storm damage. As other areas were put back in service, a number of field crews were repositioned to those hardest hit areas, allowing continued good progress with restoration. Although crews will be working through the night in all areas, customers who are still without service at 10 p.m. should prepare to be without power overnight.
At 12 noon on Sunday, December 6th there were 15,167 Versant Power customers without power because of the snow,rain and wind on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
At 11 a.m. Versant Power stated that restoration crews were out in full force today across the entire service area, and they expect to restore service to over half of their customers impacted by the storm by Sunday evening. A large number of crews are concentrated in the hardest hit areas in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties. Whilethey will be working around the clock, restoration efforts are expected to continue overnight tonight and into Monday. More detailed information will be shared late this afternoon on areas they expect may be without service overnight
As of 6 a.m. on Sunday morning, December 6th there were 24,194 Versant Power customers without power because of the snow,rain and wind on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

A full complement of internal and external crews are working to restore service to the customers affected by inclement weather that has continued across much of the service territory early Sunday morning. Versant Power crews are focused on ensuring public safety by first addressing reports of downed lines and then performing repairs. More specific information about estimated restoration times will be provided as the scope of the damage is assessed. The public is reminded to report power outages and anything that looks unsafe by calling (207) 973-2000.
As of 8 p.m. on Saturday night, December 5th there were 10,346 Versant Power customers without power with the number expected to grow overnight.
Heavy snowfall and rain, along with strong winds and wind gusts throughout Eastern and Northern Maine have caused scattered outages Saturday evening.
Versant Power crews are working throughout the night to address emergencies and restore service as soon as it is safe to do so. They will share information on estimated restoration times tomorrow morning as the storm starts to pass, travel conditions improve and any storm-related damage is assessed.
